Overview

Course Description & Intended Audience

The 3rd Annual Magnetic Resonance Elastography Workshop will be held at Mayo Clinic on September 18-19, 2025, a date that coincides with the 30th anniversary of the first publication of the technology. As MRE is now widely deployed globally in patient care, the focus of the plenary sessions is to present an up-to-date survey of well-established and emergent clinical applications of the technology. The focus of the scientific sessions will be to learn about the latest developments in state-of-the-art MRE and to identify opportunities to advance the field.

This workshop is designed for individuals with an interest in the clinical applications and foundational research of MR Elastography. While most sessions will require a basic understanding of MRE or tissue biomechanics, introductory content and posters on MRE principles will be provided. The target audience includes clinicians interested in MRE, radiologists, MR physicists,  biomedical engineers, and biologists specializing in tissue biomechanics.

Course Educational Objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the value of MRE in clinical practice and basic research
  • Outline recent developments in MRE, including hardware, data acquisition methods, and post-processing strategies
  • Explain the biological processes, structures, and changes that influence mechanical tissue properties quantified by MRE
  • Discuss future directions for MRE in clinical applications

Attendance at this Mayo Clinic course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course.
