The Fairmont Orchid is a luxury resort located on the northwestern Kohala Coast of Hawaiʻi’s Big Island. It sits on a picturesque stretch of black-lava shoreline in Puakō, just 30 minutes (about 22 miles) north of Kona International Airport. 

Lodging

Guest rooms have been reserved for attendees and their guests with a special course rate.

Run of House Rooms: $429 per night

Radiology CME kindly requests attendees limit the number of guest rooms reserved to a single room, when possible.  Please contact our office (RadiologyCME@mayo.edu) to inquire about the availability of additional rooms, should you need more than one room.  In order to receive these special rates, reservations must by made on or before Friday, October 1, 2027, and will be based on availability.  

Hotel room rates are subject to all applicable taxes and services charges at the time of check-in. The special group rates will apply three days prior to and three days post course, based on availability. Room rates are based on single or double occupancy. Each extra person sharing a room will be charged an additional $75.00 plus tax per night, beginning with the third adult. There will be no charge for children under the age of 18 years sharing the same room with their parents and utilizing existing bedding. The maximum occupancy of four (4) adults or two (2) adults and two (2) children of the age of eighteen or under per room is complimentary.  Charges for roll-aways and cribs may apply.  This fee will be waived if the guest is paying additional for the third and fourth adults. The maximum number of rollaway per room or suite is one (1). Rooms with 2 queen beds are unable to accommodate a rollaway.  

To guarantee connecting rooms, advance notice must be provided directly to the hotel. Please notify the hotel as early as possible if you require connecting rooms, as they cannot be guaranteed upon arrival. A $75 per day fee applies for guaranteed connecting rooms, in addition to the standard guest room rate.

There is a reduced daily resort fee of $25.00 per room, per night, plus tax which includes (inclusions subject to change without notice):

• Unlimited basic Wi-Fi access in guest rooms and public areas
• Wellness classes (please see the weekly complimentary wellness offerings at the Spa Without Walls) 
• Complimentary shuttle bus service within the Mauna Lani Resort area 
• Branded reusable water bottle for each registered guest per stay, to be filled at purified water stations located throughout the resort. 
• Coffee and tea service in the lobby between 5:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. 
• Hawaiian Cultural Classes & Resort Activities  
• Lei greeting upon arrival 
• Snorkel equipment rental for one hour (available to each guest, per day - resort use only). Guests who purchase Fun & Sun passes may sign out snorkel equipment multiple times per day. 
• Pool amenities 
• 45-minute photo session with Pacific Dream Photography. Reservations required. Photos available for purchase. 
• Unlimited North America Long Distance Calls (Canada & America) 

Experiences exclusive to Fairmont guests include the following: 

• Storytelling sessions, which share the legends and lore unique to the Island of Hawai'i
• Hui Holokai Beach Club Activities (subject to change based on the time and day), including hula lessons, petroglyph hikes, turtle talk session, ti leaf lei making, 'ukulele lessons, introduction to Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Paddling, and coconut palm frond weaving 
• Special seasonal activities and resort programming 

Making Reservations

To make reservations, call the reservations department at 808-885-2000 and reference the "Mayo Clinic Neuroradiology course" along with the meeting dates. Please be sure to identify yourself as a participant in the course when booking. The special group rate is offered November 1, 2027, through November 5, 2027, based on availability.  Group rate offered three (3) days pre and three (3) days post the Group's main program dates, based on Group room availability at the time of request. It is not unusual for the hotel to be fully booked by August. Early reservations are highly encouraged to avoid disappointment.

CANCELLATIONS AND NO-SHOWS: All Cancellations made 30 days or more before arrival will be accepted, and the deposit for the full night's stay will be refunded. Cancellations made less than 30 days before arrival will result in the individual being charged 100% of the room revenue, which will be billed to the credit card on file.

SHORTENED RESERVATIONS: If an individual shortens their reservation 30 days or more before arrival, the change will be accepted. However, if a reservation is shortened less than 30 days before arrival, the individual will be responsible for 100% of the room revenue based on the original reservation, which will be charged to the credit card on file.

Travel & Ground Transportation

The Fairmont Orchid is located 22.4 miles from the Kona International Airport (KOA). Travel time is approximately 29 minutes from the airport to Fairmont Orchid. Hilo International Airport (ITO) is located 73 miles from Fairmont Orchid. Fairmont Orchid's Concierge staff are happy to assist you in booking a taxi transfer (fees apply). Major car rental companies are available at both Kona International Airport (KOA) and Hilo International Airport (ITO) for convenient transportation options upon arrival.

Travel arrangements are the sole responsibility of the individual registrant.

Parking

Self-parking is included in the resort fee.  Valet parking is available for $30 per night with unlimited access.

Mayo Clinic Department of Radiology CME Office is not responsible for expenses incurred by an individual who is not confirmed and for whom space is not available at the meeting. Costs incurred by the registrant, such as airline or hotel fees or penalties, are the responsibility of the registrant.
